Kabete Dairy Farmers Co-operative Society Limited was started in 1968 as a co-operative society.

Its main objective was to assist farmers in getting a market for their produce.

Consequently, it collected and sold all its milk to Kenya Cooperative Cremaries (K.C.C.)

Because of the existing legislation, the society could not process or sell milk to any other processor.

But even with these constraints, the society grew in membership from 120 to 280 in the first year.

The society also accumulated assets. It bought lorries and buildings.

Democratic elections have been held every three years and leadership has been handed over to new generations with every passing board.
